Home Help & Care (ASD) Brussels is an organisation with nearly 300 employees and consists of three services: Daily Living Assistance (AVJ), Nursing Care (SI) and Care Coordination.
ASD Brussels offers a range of assistance and care services to Brussels residents who wish to live at home while receiving appropriate support. We are constantly evolving to adapt to needs. Position within the organisation
The Help with Daily Living (AVJ) service is made up of Family Helpers, Domestic Helpers and Housekeeping Assistants. Each sector has its own team and Home Help Team Leader.
The Home Support Worker reports to the Home Support Team Manager.
Job description
Family helpers work with elderly people, families, the sick or disabled, who have difficulty performing everyday tasks. Their role is to enable these people to remain at home by preserving and stimulating their independence, and ensuring their quality of life.
Missions and tasks
Main tasks
- Help with daily livinglaundry care, ironing, shopping, mending, preparing and helping with meals, routine maintenance of living areas, help with getting around, pre- or post-natal assistance, etc.
- Health roleThis includes grooming, changing incontinence pads, hair care, assistance with dressing, ensuring that medication is taken correctly, etc.
Cross-functional missions
- Educational roleadvice on healthy living and adapting the home, support for families, assessing and stimulating potential, etc.
- Relational helplistening, identifying difficulties, providing support through presence, dialogue, etc.
- Social assistanceadministrative procedures, help with budgeting, referrals to appropriate services, etc.
- SupportTo encourage the development, maintenance or restoration of the user's autonomy, while providing support for close carers.
The tasks and duties are established by the Home Help Team Manager in accordance with an assistance plan.
Profile and skills
Required profile
- Be in possession of CESS (technical/professional) and a certificate, attestation or diploma as a family and health auxiliary.
- Clean police record (model 2) compliant with the requirements listed for the function
Skills and knowledge required (in alphabetical order)
- Ability to travel within the Brussels-Capital Region
- Ability to work in an organised department and as part of a team
- Ability to work independently in the home while complying with service guidelines agreed at team meetings
- Human contact, listening and the ability to build relationships
- Demonstrate an ability to observe, reflect, analyse and pass on information about situations encountered
- Be able to react in the event of an exceptional situation
- Demonstrate rigour in following administrative instructions
- Flexibility to adapt to living situations at home
